Community Promise & Terms of Use

Please read and accept our community guidelines before creating your account.

Our Community Promise

Neighborly Circle exists to create connection, kindness, and care between people. This promise explains how we expect everyone in our community to treat one another.

By using Neighborly Circle, you agree to live by these principles.

1. Dignity Comes First

Every person on Neighborly Circle deserves respect, patience, and humanity.

  • Neighbors are never a burden.
  • Help is always optional and never owed.
  • No one should feel pressured, judged, or uncomfortable.

2. Autonomy and Consent Matter

Neighbors are always in control.

  • They may accept, decline, or end interactions at any time.
  • "No" is a complete answer.
  • Advocates support Neighbors but do not replace their voice.
  • Volunteers must respect a Neighbor's wishes and boundaries at all times.

3. Safety Over Convenience

Neighborly Circle is about kindness, not risk-taking.

Volunteers must not:

  • Handle money, bank cards, passwords, or financial accounts
  • Provide medical, legal, or professional services
  • Perform personal care beyond basic, non-medical assistance

In emergencies, contact local emergency services. Neighborly Circle is not an emergency service.

4. Protecting Vulnerable Adults

Many Neighbors are seniors or individuals who may be isolated or vulnerable.

This means:

  • No financial solicitation
  • No manipulation or pressure
  • No emotional, physical, or financial exploitation
  • No romantic or sexual conduct in the context of volunteering

Any behavior that takes advantage of vulnerability has no place here.

5. Appropriate Relationships Only

Neighborly Circle is not a dating platform, business opportunity, or fundraising tool.

  • Volunteers may not sell, recruit, fundraise, or pursue personal relationships through the Platform.
  • Boundaries matter, even when intentions are good.

6. Speak Up When Something Feels Wrong

If you experience or witness behavior that feels unsafe, inappropriate, or concerning:

  • Disengage if needed
  • Report the issue
  • Put safety first

Protecting the community is a shared responsibility.

7. A Platform for Connection, Not a Service Provider

Neighborly Circle helps people connect. We do not employ volunteers, supervise visits, or guarantee outcomes.

Each user is responsible for their own actions, decisions, and boundaries.

Additional Safeguards for Seniors & Vulnerable Neighbors

Because many Neighbors are older adults or individuals needing additional support, we hold the community to higher standards of care.

  • Advocates must act with the Neighbor's knowledge and consent.
  • Volunteers should encourage independence, not dependence.
  • Any attempt to isolate a Neighbor from family, caregivers, or existing support systems is unacceptable.

Neighborly Circle reserves the right to immediately remove users if there are concerns about exploitation, coercion, or harm.

Minors & Age Restrictions

Neighborly Circle is designed for adults.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account.
  • Minors are not permitted to create accounts.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

Advocates may manage accounts only for adult Neighbors. Profiles, photos, or personal information for minors are not permitted.

Accounts found to involve minors in violation of these rules may be removed immediately.
